Calgary Tooth Bonding

Your smile is essential, and so is how you feel about it. Dental bonding may be for you if you’ve got small chips or pieces missing from your teeth. Dental bonding helps restore your smile without the need for veneers or crowns.

What is Dental Bonding?

Dental bonding is the process of adding tooth-coloured filling to the tooth. This can enhance the shape, colour and size of the tooth. It’s a pain-free way to improve your smile. During the process, no part of your tooth is taken off. Dental bonding is the process of adding, not taking anything away.

When we look at dental bonding, we look at what is happening with the tooth. Normal wear and tear can result in chips, uneven shapes and discolouration of your teeth. Choosing to go with dental bonding means you can make small changes to your smile without going through the process of getting veneers.

How is it done?

Dental bonding is a procedure that requires one visit. First, we’ll examine the tooth or teeth you want to be bonded. We’ll check out the areas with bonding placed on them.

After identifying the teeth that will be bonded, we’ll choose the colour. We’ll match your natural tooth colour as closely as possible. We want the bonding to look as natural as possible.

Once the colour is chosen, we’ll apply the dental bonding to the area. We’ll shape it to be the shape and size you want. This is where we’ll take some time to ensure it’s perfect for you.

Once you’re happy with the shaping and the colour, we’ll cure the bonding to ensure it’s solid. After it’s bonded, we’ll polish up the bonding so it looks indistinguishable from the rest of your tooth.

Benefits of Dental Bonding?

Dental bonding offers many benefits. This cosmetic procedure ensures your teeth look straighter and whiter in one visit. Dental bonding is an excellent choice for patients not fond of pain or the more intensive process of getting veneers.

Dental bonding is more low maintenance than other cosmetic procedures. There is no recovery or downtime to the procedure, so there is no interruption to your day. The most significant benefit of dental bonding is that it’s reversible. This means that if you change your mind about having dental bonding or are looking at another procedure, we can remove the bonding material with little effect on the health and appearance of your teeth.

Who qualifies for Dental Bonding?

Dental bonding is an excellent option for almost all patients looking to improve their smile. We can work with all our patients to see if it’s a good option. We’ll typically recommend dental bonding for patients with small chips, uneven lengths and worn-down areas. We’ll also recommend bonding to patients who want to test out what their teeth would look like with some enhancement. It’s a great way to see what a veneer might look like without the permanent commitment. Dental bonding is reversible, making it an excellent and risk-free option for those looking to amp up their smile.

Have you got a question? We have an answer!

Yes, dental bonding is removable. It’s an excellent option for patients who want something low commitment and low risk to enhance their smile. If you wish to remove the dental bonding, you can come into the office, and we’ll gently drill away the material.

Dental bonding can last years. However, for it to last years, you’ll need to take care of it. To take care of your bonding, we advise you to take care of it as you take care of your teeth. Coming in for your regular cleanings, flossing, and brushing can ensure it stays for years.

We also advise avoiding any hard, crunchy or sticky foods for the first few days after you get the bonding. This will ensure the bonding has a chance to set. It’s best to avoid food or drinks that will stain your teeth as it will stain the bonding.

We use the same material we use in fillings. The material we use is a composite resin. It’s a material that can be easily shaped and moulded and won’t harden unless it’s under a curing light.
